Anna Andrea Winther

Anna Winther (b. 1993) is an Icelandic visual artist that is based in Glasgow. She graduated with a BA degree in fine art from The Iceland University of the Arts in 2018. She now studies in the MFA program in Glasgow School of Art. In her practice she looks to deconstruct various phenomena within western food production. Through installations and performances Anna tries to bring about the question of how we can reconnect with our food and therefore nature. Referencing industrial processes, recipes as heritage and disappearing traditions.

She has taken part in various group exhibitions including: Arts in the Environment - Nordic Symposium (Helsinki, Finland), Incontext - Compost edition (Slanic-Moldova, Romania), Out in the Open (Reykjavik Art Museum, Iceland) and Mörsugur (Outvert Artspace, Iceland). She has held four solo exhibitions including: We Don’t Know Peas (Harbinger Gallery, Iceland) and The Pancake Production (Outvert Artspace, Iceland).

Alongside her artistic practice she has taken on curatorial projects (e.g. Go!, Nordic House Reykjavik) and worked within the field of art education, both as a Grade school visual arts teacher and by organizing an art club program for young people with disabilities.
