Martha Stefani-Bose (b. 1998) is a visual artist based in Glasgow, where she studied Painting and Printmaking at The Glasgow School of Art. Rooted in drawing, her practice is driven by a desire to know the world around her through a process of abstraction: walking, looking, and zooming in. She seeks to extend the fugacity of daily reality by spending time in close proximity to textures, patterns and structures, illuminating and building upon what is present around us. Human traces, stains, scuffs, organic growth and decay are some things that catch her eye. These fragments of visual fodder are unmoored from their original context, reimagined and embellished in materials such as colour pencil, graphite, paint and collage using an array of micro-gestures.
