Astrid Turner

Astrid Turner is a contemporary sculptor who lives and works in Glasgow, Scotland. Having grown up in the city, her influences reflect her appreciation for local architecture and 'the everyday.' By using traditional building methods she displays her connection to the raw materials and processes which represent these surroundings.

Methods such as casting, lath and plaster, and plastering. Turner also works with clay from local deposits around Glasgow. The organic material is relevant to the artist's practice as it relates to Glasgow's history of industrial potteries. Many of which were located in the East End.
