Invisible Women: Shona Wardrop
3rd - 6th June
SaltSpace gallery
Invisible Women by Shona Wardrop explores her specific voice, as an older disabled woman. Seeking to examine the silent and often invisible voices of women by deconstructing female experiences and in doing so interrogate those biological and social forces that combine to create a woman’s persona. Taking materials and methods to reconstruct, Shona layers and assembles in paint, print, photo and textile, her curated versions of these gendered moments. Her intention in looking closely at these surface presentations, is to see beyond the stereotypes so often associated with female aesthetics and then engage with these real voices, hidden in plain sight.
