Sonya Iscah Smullen

Theatre maker, Artists and lover of the creative process, I am currently in the midst of completing my final year on the BA Theatre Design course at Wimbledon College of Arts. Whilst completing my degree, In 2021, I studied abroad as an exchange student in Berlin studying Fine Arts Stage and Costume Design at Weissensee School of Art.

Holistically, through my practice and personal approach to life, I value collaboration, playfulness, courage and compassion. These four elements are important factors which I aim to consider in every project I pursue. In the future, I would like to expand the realm of theatre and performance through making, designing and collaborating with others from different practises. I believe this particular exploration will lead me to question conventional forms of making theatre and hopefully make way for a new kind of theatre in the future.
