SaltSpace occupies three ground floor shop units at 98 Saltmarket, Glasgow, G1 5LG (Community Space), 142 Saltarket, Glasgow, G1 5LF (Maker space & Shop), and 270 High Street Glasgow, G4 0QT.

 

 

 

  • Current timetables and public transport information can be found on www.travelinescotland.com or First Glasgow

  • The nearest train station is High Street, Glasgow Central Station or Queen Street. The nearest Subway station is St Enoch.

  • All vehicles used by Glasgow Taxis are wheelchair accessible, please call 0141 429 7070 to book.

  • There is limited on-street metered parking on Saltmarket and High Street and surrounding area.

  • There is blue badge parking on Chisholm Street, nearest Saltmarket.

  • Car Parks are located on King Street, Albion Street, and Stockwell Street.

ACCESSIBILITY GUIDE

 

We want to make it as easy as possible for you to visit us, and to attend our events. If you feel that you might need some additional help, please get in touch in advance at saltspacecoop@gmail.com or ask a member of SaltSpace on arrival. 

 

Maker Space & Shop

  • Our main door is at pavement level on 142 Saltmarket (Maker Space & Shop). 

  • There is one non-automatic door, opening inwards at the entrance, measuring 93cm / 36.5 inches wide. The door is usually closed to the street. 

  • The space inside is level, wheelchair accessible and on a single floor. The floor is hard level concrete. 

  • The shop space at the front is well-lit with natural daylight, & overhead bulb lighting. 

  • The maker space at the rear is well-lit with overhead lights. 

  • We do not currently have a hearing loop available. Noise levels vary throughout the space. There is background noise all day, and can be very busy. 

  • We welcome trained assistance dogs. If your assistance dog needs a break, ask us for a bowl of water. 

  • Circulation space is at least 120cm / 47 inches wide in most places.

  • At present, we have no accessible toilets, but we are in the process of seeking funding to provide these.

Community Space

  • Our main door is at ground floor on 98 Saltmarket (Community Space) however there is an incline on the street and a wedge-shaped step at the entrance measuring 5cm high on the left running down to 3.5cm high on the right, with a cracked uneven surface. With advance notice we can provide assistance if required. We are in the process of seeking funding for a threshold bar for this entrance.

  • There is one non-automatic door, opening inwards at the entrance, measuring 93cm / 36.5 inches wide. The door is usually closed to the street. 

  • The space inside is level, wheelchair accessible and on a single floor. The floor is hard level concrete.

  • The Community Space at the front is well-lit with natural daylight, & overhead bulb lighting.

High Street Gallery

  • Our main door is at ground floor on 270 High Street (Gallery & Residency Space) however there is an incline on the street and a wedge-shaped step at the entrance measuring 15cm high on the left running up to 20cm high on the right. The street is on a steep incline and we are in the process of seeking advice and funding for accessible solutions for this entrance.

  • There is one non-automatic door, opening inwards at the entrance, measuring 85cm / 33.5 inches wide. The door is usually closed to the street.

  • The space inside the gallery is level, and on a single floor. The floor is hard wood flooring.

  • The Gallery Space at the front is well-lit with natural daylight, & overhead bulb lighting. 

  • There is a change of level with two steps to the residency space, with advance notice we can provide assistance if required.

  • We do not currently have a hearing loop available. Noise levels vary throughout the space. There is background noise all day, and can be very busy. 

  • We welcome trained assistance dogs. If your assistance dog needs a break, ask us for a bowl of water.

  • Circulation space in the gallery is at least 120cm / 47 inches wide, with permanent window seating.

  • At present, we have no accessible toilets, but we are in the process of seeking funding to provide these.
